Team Members

Kilrush Town Team members are volunteers from community and business organisations in the area:

Charlie Glynn

Chairperson

Day Job: Director Glynn Technical Diamonds

As a Kilrush native and Director of Glynn Technical Diamonds, I have a vested interest in creating a viable and sustainable future for generations to come. There are many gaps between what our community want and what local government can deliver, and I hope Kilrush Town Team can be the conduit between both. It takes some hard work, but I believe we can achieve a lot by working together and taking small steps to improve our community.“

Pàdraig Neylon

Communications

Day Job: Director of +AddJust, PND Building Consultancy & Beds of Silk Ltd

A few years ago, my wife and I were living outside Galway City and we learned we were expecting our first child. We were faced with THAT decision that lots of couples face – where do we want our kids to grow up and where offers us the best opportunity to spend the next chapter of our lives. For many reasons Kilrush ticked a lot of boxes. Soon after we arrived, the Kilrush Town Team idea was being mooted and I see it as a great opportunity to play my small part in the advancement of the town as a great place to come to live in, to visit and to work in.

Fionnuala Walsh

Secretary

Day Job: Sales & Marketing Professional

I am extremely fortunate to have traveled and worked across the globe, my professional unique track record includes single-handedly setting up a successful and profitable online recruitment advertising business in the Caribbean. I am one of the most accomplished Marathon Swimmers in the world, because of my love for the sea I had always wanted to return to my native Cappa, Kilrush. My wish is to help KTT showcase Kilrush and contribute in any way I can to make Kilrush a better place to live for residents both current and future.

Matt Heslin

Financial

Day Job: CEO of Kilrush Credit Union

I decided to join the Kilrush Town Team primarily for two reasons. I see the great potential for Kilrush, and KTT has the ability to capitalise on it with cross-section of community participants, access to funding and a uniform direction and vision especially from key stakeholders. Secondly, working with Kilrush Credit Union, its helps develop our purpose which is community development care and focus.

Mary O Donoghue

Community & Education Lead

Day Job: Co-Ordinator - West Clare Family Resource Centre

I bring my knowledge and experience as a community worker to my role in the Town team and I’m committed to making Kilrush a place which benefits everyone in the community. I’m particularly interested in promoting the needs of young people and teenagers and I feel that there is a serious lack of resources for them. I believe strongly in the whole community being involved in developments for Kilrush and see the Town Team as a way to make Kilrush a better place for everyone.

Martina McGrath

Enterprise Lead

Day Job: CEO – Bridgewater Consulting

For me, getting involved with this initiative was all about coming home. My husband and I bought a house in Kilrush around the time that the Town Team was being established. It seemed a great fit, as our future was now intrinsically linked to the success of the town in terms of quality of life and contributing to an area, that had given us so much growing up! In addition to that, it was a very representative group - compiled of people with a really strong set of skills, expert in their respective fields. It was a very easy choice and I'm delighted to be involved!

Hilary Gleeson

Public Realm Lead

Day Job: Development Officer with Clare Local Development

Kilrush is my home and I always wanted to come back and live here and bring up my family here. I love living beside the sea and I think Kilrush has so much to offer for a great quality of life and being close to nature. Kilrush has many facilities in close proximity to the heritage town such as the Marina, Scattery Island, the beautiful coastal village of Cappa, the Vandeleur Walled Gardens, the Community Gardens located in the town centre. Kilrush has great potential to become a leading sustainable town for individuals and families to work, play and live. The presence of a strong community group such as Kilrush Town Team will help Kilrush to improve facilities for all people living in the town and surrounding areas.

Michael Fitzgerald

Sports & Recreation Lead

Day Job: Director EMF Building Contractors

I joined Kilrush Town Team to try and help create more opportunities and better facilities for our children and grandchildren. I would hope to encourage more new volunteers from all aspects of the community to become more involved and to help create better resources for our town.

Irene Hamilton

Tourism Lead

Day Job: Director of Scattery Island Tours

Having returned to Kilrush to set up my business I was keen to get actively involved in the town. Kilrush is a beautiful market town, located right on the Wild Atlantic Way. It has huge potential to develop as a tourist destination and in my role within KTT, I’m working hard towards helping it realise this potential.
