Kilrush Currach Rowing Club

We are a local club whose main activity is rowing, we use traditional Currachs of the design that were used primarily for fishing activities along the Kilrush and Clare coast line up to as recently as 2006.

These are 2 and 3 person craft, we also use a 4 person Currach of the design that was used by river pilots based on Scattery Island to board inbound vessels to the river Shannon.

Our main aim is to promote rowing for the health and well being of our junior and adult members alike, whilst also promoting the rich and diverse maritime heritage of our locality.

We are affiliated to the broader West Clare Currach club and some of our members take part in regattas along the western seaboard from cork to donegal over the summer months and have been very successful over the years.
