28 February 2025 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm GMT
Free
The monthly open mic social at our Kilrush shop is a free event, open to all.
For lovers of poetry, flash fiction and any kind of creative writing. Come to read from your own work or to share a favourite piece by another writer, or come to listen and support.
CIARAN O’DRISCOLL lives in Limerick. A member of Aosdána, he has published ten books of poetry, including Gog and Magog (1987), Moving On, Still There (2001), and Surreal Man (2006).
Awards include the James Joyce Prize and the Patrick and Katherine Kavanagh Fellowship. His poem ‘Please Hold’ (featured in Forward’s anthology Poems of the Decade) is a set text for A Level English Literature.
Ciaran will be reading from his second novel, ‘The Golden Ass’ which was published in 2024 by the Limerick Writer’s centre and was submitted as one of the 156 books accepted for consideration by the Booker Prize judges; a great achievement for the Limerick Writers’ Centre and the author to meet such stringent submission conditions. It has garnered some great reviews from esteemed sources. The subject material speaks to a modern-day world that embraces, explores and discusses gender and sexual fluidity.
